Level 1 Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health (1 x Half Day)

All topics explored underpin the key learning outcomes for the sessions which are, for each attendee to:

  • Know what mental health is, why people might develop mental health conditions and the role of a
    First Aider in mental health.
  • Know how to provide advice and practical support for a person presenting a suspected mental health
    condition.
  • Know how to recognise and manage stress.
  • Know how to recognise a range of mental health conditions (such as depression, anxiety, eating
    disorders, suicide, self-harm).

Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health (1 x Full Day)

All topics explored underpin the key learning outcomes for the sessions which are, for each attendee to:

    First Aider in mental health.

  • Understand the first aid action plan for mental health and be able to put it in place.

Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health (2 x Full Days)

All topics explored underpin the key learning outcomes for the sessions which are, for each attendee to:

  • Know what mental health is, why people might develop mental health conditions and the role of a
    First Aider in mental health.
  • Know how to provide advice and practical support for a person presenting a suspected mental health
    condition.
  • Know how to recognise and manage stress.
  • Understand the impact of substance abuse on mental health.
  • Understand the first aid action plan for mental health and be able to put it in place.
  • Know how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace.
  • Understand a range of mental health disorders and the support / therapy provided by professional
    health care providers.
