Teacher Training and Trainer Certification – How to Become a Teacher

Qualify To Teach Adults in Three Weeks – Level 3 Award in Education and Training

When it comes to courses to become a teacher in the UK there are a few ways to become a teacher in the UK. To teach children in schools there are a number of routes you can take (including starting with the Level 3 Award in Education and Training – which used to be known as the PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) qualification; which can take as little as a month to complete for a motivated student. (See below) You can also take your time and take a year to qualify.

Or you can start with a Degree in Education – up to 4 years to complete. Another option is to gain a degree in a subject and then go on to do a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education – up to 5 years to complete.

B Ed – Batchelors in Education

A degree in Education (B Ed), which normally takes three years, followed by a year in a school under mentorship where you would gain QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). This route can take up to four years but you are qualified to teach children in state schools. This route is mainly aimed at people wanting to qualify to teach children in the state school sector

PGCE – Post Graduate Certificate in Education

Once you have graduated with a degree you can then spend up to two years gaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. Where you will spend the major part of your time in a school in a teaching capacity; while qualifying to teach full time.

Level 3 Award in Education and Training

Now known as the L3 Award in Education and Training (or L3 AET), this is the Initial Teaching Qualification required in the UK to allow you to teach in colleges and training organisations. Previously known as PTLLS – Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector and pronounced Petals.

You do need to be qualified and/or experienced in the subjects you want to teach. To work in a college you would need Maths and English qualifications and qualifications a level above the one you would be teaching

Teach or Train Students in Many Subjects From Maths to Eyelash Extensions

Required by the government if you want to work in a training company, community center or college as a teacher or tutor; it is also required by the insurance companies and accrediting organisations for Hairdressers, Beauticians, Nail Artists and many other sectors.

As with any awarding body or college there are requirements that the insurance companies and awarding bodies related to the beauty and hairdressing industries have. Before embarking on this qualification it would be good practice to check with the awarding body or insurance company that you are associated with. In general they will require that you either hold a qualification in the subject you want to teach or that you have a number of years relevant experience practicing your craft. Be that Hairdressing, Nails, Lashes or general beauty. It is likely that a minimum age would also be applied of 19 years. Which is also the minimum age requirement of the Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
